Camp Willowswish at Lake Murray State Park in Ardmore, Oklahoma

This gay event has been going on for more than 50 years. It was started, we believe, in 1969 by a group of friends, part of whom lived in OKC and Dallas to meet at the lake to party. It was relatively quiet in the ’70s, then grew in the ’80s and exploded in the ’90s with the popularity of the internet.

Fall Campout takes place on the same weekend every year, the weekend after labor day. Spring Campout takes place at the end of April.

Camp Willowswish is in southern Oklahoma, halfway between OKC and Dallas. Many people come earlier in the week, some come the prior weekend and stay the whole week. Most stay until Sunday, but some stay until Monday. It’s what ever you want to do and how long you want to camp. Reservations are taken for the 35 RV Pad sites with electric/water. There are hundreds unserviced tent/RV sites, that are first come first serve (no reservations taken). The earlier you get there, the more likely to get a good campsite. If you don’t get there until Saturday, you get what’s left.
